My QWAC Preparations Part 1
I’ve been asked to blog about my preparations for the Queen West Artcrawl this year by the show staff, it’s funny because, I was going to do that anyway! Thanks though for asking QWAC! So, here we go:
I’m participating this year, as I have 3 times in the past(2010, 2009, and 2007), in the Queen West Artcrawl Outdoor Show and Sale. There is more to the QWAC than just the outdoor show, please visit that previous link to get info about all the festivities. The Outdoor show is taking place on Sept 17 and 18(Sat and Sun) at Trinity Bellwoods Park just off Queen St, west of Bathurst in Toronto, ON.
I have already started to make my preparations for this year’s show, but I thought as I gear up for it I can show you what’s new or what changes I have made to my business since the last time I showed there. There is one huge change since the last time and that is that I am now making watches! In all three previous times I participated in the show, I’ve only shown jewellery but I’ve added watches to the items I make…don’t worry if you want to come and see my jewellery, I’ll have some it at the show too! The watches have been in the works for some time, there’s a lot of engineering to take into account when coming up with watch designs. Please visit my website to see all the watches I’ve made so far. But you, lucky readers, get a sneak peek at what I’ll be introducing at the show for the very first time! A new line of stainless steel watches. I’ve had many requests for larger stainless steel watches so that’s been my focus for the last while. Hopefully I’ll have them finished in time for the show!
Here is what may come between finishing and not finishing the watches:
He’s amazing, just takes up a ton of my time! Which is not a bad thing.
So, back to the stainless steel watches. I’m hoping to have at least 6 new watches for the show. These watches will vary in size from 36mm diameters up to 47mm diameters. I’m using both Swiss ETA movements and Asian Seagull movements in them depending on the size. I can always swap out the Seagull movements for Swiss if desired, its just that the cost goes up then. Here’s a pic of some of the large cases and the different movements:

So the dials are currently being produced, but I’ll leave that for another time…have to leave you in suspense about something! I’m very excited to be participating in this year’s QWAC, stay tuned for more prep posts and I hope to see you there!
Scott
